how to make a tea latte. (the easy way)

Tea lattes have become my favorite drink.

Tea Lattes
I get tired of drinking water with meals and am always looking for a way to liven my beverages up a bit.  For awhile I was making my own chai tea latte concentrate, but then I realized there was a MUCH easier way. You drive through the Starbucks drive-thru.

No. I kid.

Well okay, sometimes that’s what I do, but most of the time I whip up a semi-homemade version.

Easy Tea Lattes
Whenever I have this latte with breakfast it makes me feel like I’m at a fancy brunch.  My favorite breakfast lately is an iced chai tea latte paired with Anne’s grain-free pancake topped with some almond butter.

For the latte, you start by pouring 1 cup water into a mug and microwaving until boiling.  Add in your favorite tea bag and allow to brew for about 8 minutes.

Remove the tea bag and stir in 1-2 teaspoons honey.

For a hot latte version, add in 1/4 cup milk (my favorite is with Califia Farms Almondmilk) and drink.

For an iced latte version (my version of choice), place the hot tea in the freezer for 15 minutes, or until cool.  Fill a glass with ice and pour in the tea.  Add in about 1/4 cup milk, or more depending on your tastes (once again, I’m loving almond milk in these).

You can make this with pretty much any flavor of tea.  My favorite tea lattes have been made with Celestial Seasonings Chai Tea or Gingerbread Spice.  I can’t wait to get my hands on the Nutcracker Sweet and Sweet Harvest Pumpkin so I can turn them into tea lattes too.

Mornings were made for fancy-feeling (really easy) tea lattes.

  2. So digging this post as I was just experimenting with a pumpkin tea latte so fun to read this. LOVE that first shot of the pour with milk swirling in the glass – gorgeous photo!

  4. Love this idea – gotta try it with some of my sweeter teas!

  5. I have that same K mug from Anthro! Love it! And I love tea lattes. For some reason I never considered how easy it would be to just microwave the water. Duh!

  6. Kylie, you have such a knack for making simple recipes look IRRESISTIBLE. This is SO perfect and relevant because I’ve been thinking I need more caffeine since I keep falling asleep in class (either that or more sleep, which–HA!) but I hate coffee. So a tea latte–hello perfection!!!! Cannot WAIT to try this <333

  7. this looks delightful! I could do tea time all day long if i could.

  8. dude stoked about the new layout. it got a little tedious to be super into reading your posts and then the button at the bottom was like “do you want to continue reading?” and i was always like OBVIOUSLLYY stop holding me up. now it shows all your great pics and lets me binge read your posts quicker :)

  9. Drinking one right now! Delicious with a ‘bengal spice’ tea bag (like chai)

  10. I really need to try a chai latte! Would you believe me if I told you I’ve never had one? I also have a vanilla chai tea that this recipe would be awesome with. I think I’ll make my own at home first…or drive through the Starbucks drive thru. We shall see ;)

  11. I’ve been buying chai concentrate from Target but it’s a bit too sweet for me. This recipe just saved me over $3 a week & it’s perfect because you can customize the sweetness. AND now I can make a pumpkin chai latte ;). Thanks so much!
