Cloud 10 Creamery’s Holiday Flavors

Last night I went to an event at Cloud 10 Creamery to taste their new fall & holiday flavors.

Epic Sundae at Cloud 10 Creamery in Houston. Brown Butter Sweet Potato Ice Cream with granola, cranberry sauce, homemade whipped cream, pepitas and cilantro!

Chef Chris Leung said the inspiration for the creamery was wanting a banana split one afternoon and having no where in Houston to get one.  So he made a place where you could get one!

His focus for the banana splits at Cloud 10 Creamery was on TEXTURE.  Banana splits can have only mushy textures (bananas, ice cream, whipped cream), so at Cloud 10 Creamery Chef Chris adds in candied pecans, caramelized bananas and nutella powder (it’s a thing) to change up the normal (mushy) banana split.

First we got to taste the flavors.  All the flavors are made with no extract or flavorings.  Meaning the Brown Butter Sweet Potato ice cream is made with sweet potatoes and the Golden Beets with Beet Jam ice cream is made with roasted golden beets.

You won’t find any Cotton Candy ice cream here.  But who needs cotton candy when you’ve got these flavors?!

I heard rumors of a Toasted Rice ice cream that’s made with jasmine rice that’s been toasted and infused into milk.  When asked if they were going to bring the flavor back, Chef Chris said they actually make it about twice a month but it sells out almost immediately!  I gotta figure out their ice cream schedule so I can swing by for a taste!

Okay, on to the tasting.

Maple Bacon: Was totally not expecting to like this one…I like bacon but don’t LOVE bacon (unless it’s on a cobb salad with blue cheese).  The ice cream just had a subtle bacon flavor smooshed together with smooth, creamy maple flavors.

Cafe sau da: SUPER intense coffee flavor.  Made for you coffee lovers.

Golden beet with beet jam: So interesting.  You could really taste the earthiness of the beets.  Would love this when I’m not craving something overly sweet.

Valrhona Caraibe with figs: didn’t try it!

Brown Butter Sweet Potato:  I’ve seen so many recipes using brown butter, but I’ve never done it myself.  So this was my first taste of brown butter deliciousness.  It tasted like the creamiest, most decadent sweet potato OF YOUR LIFE.

Nutella with Marshmallows: I mean, it’s nutella.  Gonna be good.

After tasting the flavors, they dished us up their Fall Sundae.

The sundae started with a layer of granola topped with Brown Butter Sweet Potato ice cream.  Then it was piled high with whipped cream, cranberry sauce, almond cake, pumpkin seeds and cilantro.

This was my first time trying cilantro on ice cream, but I actually really liked it with everything else going on in this sundae.

I can’t wait to go back to try this Olive Oil ice cream.  Oh and a banana split…can’t remember the last time I had one!
