Welcome to another edition of things that make me feel holiday-y.
There actually was hot chocolate in the mug pictured above. I wasn’t just drinking out of an empty glass. Promise.
So before you make this glass of holiday chocolate cheer, you should get into proper hot chocolate drinking attire. Proper hot chocolate drinking attire looks something like this. Old leggings that are slightly stretched out and comfy. Then fuzzy and/or knitted socks of some sort. Then an oversized flannel shirt or sweater. Then add a thick knitted blanket over top of everything. And then you’re good to hot chocolate.
Just know that if you have a fireplace that you win this holiday season. And…can I come over? I have no fireplace. If you let me come over I’ll bring all the necessary ingredients for this hot chocolate. There’s only 6 of them so it won’t be that difficult. I’ll be right over.
Yield: 1 mug (easily doubled/tripled/etc.)
Prep Time: 3 minutes
Cook Time: 2 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
1 cup milk (I used 2%)
1 tablespoon 70%+ dark chocolate, chopped
1/2 tablespoon special dark cocoa
1/2 tablespoon maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
pinch salt
In a mug, combine all ingredients. Heat in the microwave until milk is hot and chocolate is melted. Serve immediately. I frothed mine with a milk frother before drinking to make it a bit foamy on top.
Do you have a go-to hot chocolate recipe?! Tell me tell me tell me!
