Wedding Anniversary #2 (we still like each other!)

This past weekend Andrew and I celebrated wedding anniversary #2!! Yay, marriage.  I’ve decided our decision to get married around holiday time was brilliant.  I’m very pro throwing another celebration into the holiday season.  Our anniversaries have both turned into mini staycations in Houston.  Last year we celebrated anniversary #1 like this and this year was just as great.  AND I wore the same hot pink blazer both years.

So for this anniversary the fabulous people at Hotel Sorella offered us a complimentary stay in one of their Penthouses to celebrate.

We arrived at the hotel Saturday afternoon and were greeted with chocolate covered strawberries & champagne.

Andrew and I were both blown away by the size of the penthouse since it was bigger than our entire house!  It was fun to feel fancy for the night.

I immediately had to see what the view looked like…

And then I checked out the bathtub (priorities), which was also huge.  After staying here I feel like our entire house is miniature.

The bedroom was cozy and the light/fan had a remote control, which allowed for ultimate laziness.

After hanging out in the room a bit we decided to go look around some shops.  The hotel is located in City Centre, which is this cute, little area a bit outside of Houston with green space, shops and restaurants.  There’s an Anthropologie, H&M, J. Crew, Sur La Table, West Elm…all the necessities.  It really feel like its own mini city.

After walking around for an hour we were getting hungry so we headed back to the hotel and changed into our dinner clothes.  I feel like my anniversary is the one time of year I wear a dress that’s a wee-bit too tight and heels that are a wee-bit too high.  It’s fabulous.

(see below…me fake smiling and Andrew looking like he’s going to beat someone up.)

We walked down the block for an Italian dinner at Brio.

Andrew ordered us the roasted bell pepper bruschetta, which I liked more than I thought I would.

And I tried these rosemary-parmesan flatbreads that were in the bread basket.  Just fabulous.  I’m a crispy, thin crust/bread person ALL THE WAY.

For my meal, I ordered a ricotta-filled pasta that was served in a creamy tomato-parmesan sauce with crispy pancetta.  Said just like Giada.

After dinner we walked around West Elm and I decided it’s the best store.  And it has all the bowl.

Then we walked back to the hotel while looking at all the pretty lights.

Once back at the hotel I really just wanted to go relax and watch tv.  But since it was only 7:30pm Andrew said we had to stay out a bit longer, so we headed to the Monnalisa, which is the bar inside Hotel Sorella.  Andrew went with an Old-fashioned and I tried a vodka + ginger beer concoction that was delish.  AND there was a fire pit in the bar, which is always fun.

And the couple sitting across from us was like 30 years apart in age, so that’s always interesting to observe;)

After drinks we headed back up to our room for views from our balcony…

Rainy, humid Houston<3

Then we found a giant comforter and cuddled on the couched and watched some SNL re-runs.  Single ladies with Justin Timberlake, anyone!?

Then I made tea because I really wanted to use the fancy stove, but I didn’t have anything to cook.

Then I pinterested for a bit while tea drinking.

Then sleep.

The next day we woke up and felt like moving our bodies a bit, so we went and checked out the hotel gym.  I really love using hotel gyms.  You never know what fun piece of equipment they’ll have or if the gym will only have equipment from the 80s.  Always a surprise!  This hotel gym had just enough things.

Quick warm-up.

Then we just did whatever we felt like.  I did a push-up + jumping lunges + dumbbell circuit.  Andrew did…I have no idea.  Something with a kettlebell.  I steer clear of kettlebells because I always feel like I’m using them wrong.  True.

Afterwards, I showered because I have a talent of sweating bucket at any activity.  Then we headed to breakfast at one of my favorite breakfast spots…Sweet Paris!

I went with the Dulce de Leche crepe with banana + an iced coffee.  I decided I like their nutella crepe better, but it was nice to switch it up.

Ugh.  I just wanna live in this place.  SO PRETTY!!!!!<3<3<3 Marble. YES. Mint. YES. Lanterns. YES.

After crepes we checked out of the hotel and headed to the grocery store to get ready for the week.  Sometimes I’m very boo reality.  I told Andrew that penthouse life has changed me and I’m probably gonna need some fancy things now.  And by fancy things I mean more crepes.

Thanks for letting me relive the weekend!
