Indecisive Cookies

I’ve been SO EXCITED to tell YOU about these!

It’s so many cookies.  All smooshed into one.  Oh ‘smooshed’…my favorite word that spellcheck always autocorrects to ‘smoothed.’  No, these are not smoothed cookies, they’re smooshed cookies.

When I sat down to brainstorm about this recipe, I had the best intentions to just smoosh two cookies together, but then I stopped that negative talk and told myself, “you gotta dream bigger, harder, better, faster, stronger!” Kayne-style.

So I upped the number of cookie flavors involved to 3 and have never been happier with a life choice.  It’s the best decision I’ve made.  Except the decision to buy Maggie.  That was the best life choice.  And getting married was good.  And deciding not to have an eating disorder anymore was also good.

Now.  This idea of an indecisive cookie isn’t new to me.  In the ebook, I have an indecisive cookie.  (pssst. this one here is better.)

I do have to tell you that this is my favorite cookie recipe of my life so far.  I’m such a cookie person.  I guess some people aren’t cookie people? Hahahahahahah.  That was a joke.  Errrrybody likes a cookie.

But these cookie are especially fun to eat.  Obviously.  I mean, look at them? But where to start eating?!

These cookies are supposed to be indecisive cookies because you don’t have to make a decision on which type of cookie to bake, but you DO have to make a decision on which cookie flavor to eat first.  I recommend you start with the oatmeal, then progress to peanut butter and then up at the chocolate chip.

I’m watching the Grammy’s as I type this up.

First thought) it’s the best hearing people with British accents say, “LL Cool J.”

Second thought) there are so many flashing lights.  I’ve had 3 seizures in my life and while flashing lights are not a trigger for me, I feel like it’s a bit excessive

Last thought) everyone is covered in sparkly dresses with really high slits.  Is that what I should be wearing?

Last thought for real) it’s a bit ridiculous that I had to ask Andrew how to spell “LL Cool J.”  He was like, “it’s all letters? What’s to spell?”

So cookies.  You mix up three different cookie doughs, which seems like it’ll take 4EV.URRR.  But it doesn’t! And if it does, it’s totally worth it.

Then you roll all the cookie dough into balls and smoosh/roll the different types together until you’ve got…

Then you steal a bite of cookie dough.

Then you bake these up (being sure to leave them doughy enough).

Then you serve them to everyone you love.  Yourself should be included in that list of someone you love, because you should love yourself.

Indecisive Cookies

Yield: makes 9 large cookies

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

chocolate chip cookies
4 tablespoons butter, softened (heat in microwave until soft, not totally melted)
1/4 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg yolk
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup dark chocolate chips

oatmeal cookies
3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup oat flour, spooned into measuring cup
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 tablespoon maple syrup
1 1/2 tablespoon unsweetened applesauce
1 1/2 tablespoons butter, melted

peanut butter cookies
1/2 cup oat flour
2 tablespoons old-fashioned rolled oats
1/4 cup brown sugar, not packed
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup peanut butter (I used crunchy)
3 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350ºF.  First make chocolate chip cookie dough.  In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to whip together soft butter and sugar until creamy.  Add in vanilla and yolk.  Mix until smooth.  Add in remaining ingredients, except chocolate chips.  Mix.  Dough will be crumbly.  Use your hands to squeeze together dough into a ball.  Use your hands to add in chocolate chips.  Lick cookie dough off hands.  Wash hands.  Roll cookie dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and place in the fridge.

Now make your oatmeal cookie dough.  In the same bowl you used for the chocolate chip cookies, combine all oatmeal cookie ingredients until a dough forms.  Wrap dough in plastic wrap and place in fridge.

Finally, make your peanut butter cookie dough.  Mix together all pb cookie ingredients until a dough forms.

Take all dough to a flat work surface.  Roll each batch of cookie dough into 9 cookie dough balls (if you want smaller cookies, roll dough into 12 cookie dough balls).

Take one of each type of cookie dough and press into an epic cookie dough ball.  Roll cookie dough balls together the best you can and place on a greased baking sheet.

Bake for 10-12 minutes.  Leave doughy (<--words of wisdom.).  Serve with an iced cold glass of milk (<--also words of wisdom.).

  7. Well this is probably the best idea I’ve ever heard.  Why have I not done this before?! Genius!

  8. Loved your note about autocorrect. My favorite autocorrect is that my Microsoft Word always wants to change “disenrolled” to “disembroiled” and I’m pretty sure my client does not want their customers disembroiled…

  9. this is like 3 heavenly things smooshed together!!!

  10. I love that you said this was your best decision along with marriage and recovering from an ED haha- I totally used that exact statement last week when I tried figs and peanut butter together for the first time!

  11. Yay for being indecisive! This is the best idea!

  12. These look so yummy! Love the idea of putting three types of cookies together. I totally agree that everyone is a cookie person.
