SoulCycle + Breakfast Date + my Thursday
Yesterday my friend Jenna invited me to a SoulCycle class with her.
I’d never been to SoulCycle. It was okay, but I don’t think I’d go back. Actually, I’d go back if it was a social thing with a friend.
It was fun to change it up, but I’m all about intuitive exercise and if I don’t like something I’m not going to do it. Hello, SELF CARE. Just like with intuitive eating where you get to listen to your cravings (i.e. I don’t like curry, so I don’t eat things with curry), if I don’t like straight cycling type classes I don’t go to cycling classes. It was a fun change though AND it meant a morning friend date, which I LOVE!
If you’ve been to SoulCycle, then you know that the music is mega loud, which I LOVE. But I thought it was nice they had ear plugs to offer. And they had hair ties in the glass jar next to the ear plugs, which is brilliant because I still can not figure out where all my hair ties disappear to.
Anyways. I sweat so much, what can I say…my body is super efficient at cooling itself lol. When I was toweling all the sweat off my body I ended up smelling the towel and it smelt so citrus-y and FRESH. So here is a picture of my smelling the fragrant towel. Speaking of fragrances. I finally found a perfume I like. It’s Dolce & Gabbana Velvet Wood, I had a little sample of it. But then I looked at how much it cost and holy crap it’s like $250+ for a bottle of perfume?! Is that what perfume costs?! There is no way I’m buying that!
After class we headed to breakfast. The class was pretty early so I had only grabbed a handful of chocolate covered almonds on the way out the door that morning, so I was ready to eat!
Jenna and I went to Brasil. Jenna was a blog reader who has turned into one of my good friends. We had our first meeting at Cafe Brasil a couple years ago, so it was nice to go back to the place our friendship started;)
Cafe Brasil is tucked away on a Houston street. I love it. So much green.
And the inside looks like this…
For breakfast I ordered the Eggs El Salvador, which was a pork + cheese pupusa topped with poached eggs, salsas, cheese and black beans. It was supposed to come with chorizo, but I don’t really like chorizo…so I asked for it without.
And naturally I got a latte. From the recommendation from my little sister (Quinn!), I added almond flavor instead of vanilla. It was good!
Then we just hung out and talked for a bit.
After breakfast we checked out the shop next door.
This shop space was neat. The owner wants it to be a pop-up location, so the shop changes every two months or so with a new shop!
The shop seemed to have a lot of boho-esque things, so that drew me in. I really want a moroccan pouf for our house, but I haven’t been able to find one that isn’t mega expensive.
this bath mat lol.
AND they had pineapples hanging in ropes. How fun.
Then I came home and got some blog work done + snacked on some more chocolate covered almonds.
Later I ate a cheesy omelet with sweet potatoes and tomatoes for a late lunch.
Since I see clients late on Thursday, I’m always a little perplexed as to what to eat before I go into work. I went with an iced latte + a pancake topped with Justin’s hazelnut butter. I need something that is going to hold me a little longer than your average snack!
Then I headed to the office to see clients for a few hours. I ended up having two clients need to cancel so I got home earlier than usual. YAY!
After work I made Andrew and me a big salad with all the leftover we had from the week – kale, cilantro, roasted sweet potatoes & cauliflower, goat cheese, blue cheese, and chicken. Dressing was olive oil, balsamic, honey, salt/pepper.
Before bed I had a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream + some Justin’s hazelnut butter! It’s the bottom of the jar and the hazelnut butter is super crumbly…YUM.
That was my Thursday! Now I’m off to pack a bag before an early wake up call for the airport tomorrow! San Francisco, here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you everyone who emailed me recommendations on where to eat! I so so so appreciate it!
I just tried soulcycle with a friend too! super loud, loved it but won’t become my thing. have a good trip
Thanks, Meredith! And it sounds like we are on the same page about SoulCycle;)
I keep seeing things about soul cycle. Looks like so much fun! Also that breakfast looks delishhh. And that store is cute- hanging pineapples?! Those are adorbs!! Have a great weekend Kylie!
That savory breakfast + sweet latte = Breakfast PERFECTION!
Check Target for some reasonably priced poufs (that’s sounds so funny). Have a great weekend!
Thanks for the tip!! I’ll be going to look!
So either you have a mild chocolate covered almond adoration, or my chocolate covered almond predicament got you craving them ?. Have fun in California!! ?
Hahaha they’ve been a constant snack for me lately! SO SATISFYING!
So give me the pancakes and the ice cream please with all the nut butter! Making me hungry. I used to teach spin class. While it wasn’t soulcycle, for sure, a good spin class can really make you sweat! I loved doing it, and I like to pick up a class here and there if I’m traveling.
Every now and then they are definitely a fun way to switch things up!
I have been wanting to try out Soul Cycle for some time now but I am not big on cycling and a little worried I may not like it. LOVED your ice cream w hazelnut butter! Yummy!
