Weekend in Eight Pictures.

Wanted to share some weekend highlights today!

Friday night our friends Henry & Jenna (aka Jenry) invited us over for dinner.  I brought Cane Rosso’s burrata appetizer (it’s a ball of burrata + delicious bread + sautéed greens + arugula) and I brought dessert from Nothing Bundt Cakes.  Jenry made us epic sous vide steaks + salad + roasted potatoes.  Such a good night hanging out.  I like meeting for breakfast dates out somewhere, but I really enjoy dinner dates in with friends.

Saturday started with multiple lattes and some final testing for a coconut flour pancake recipe.  I’ll be sharing this recipe later this week!

I ended up popping into our Farmers Market Saturday morning.  This fabric was on one of the produce tables.

Then I swung by B&B Butchers to pick out some Father’s Day gifts.  This restaurant is a steakhouse in the back and a deli/cafe in the front.  I love the atmosphere of both the steakhouse and the deli.  These floors are so fabulous.

Saturday night I was feeling woe-is-me and was missing our San Fran trip.  So I somehow talked Andrew into waking up early Sunday and taking me out to breakfast before church.  We went to Morningstar.  I had been to Morningstar once before and was so NOT impressed with their donuts.  However, their breakfast biscuits are incredible.  The biscuit was uber buttery and Andrew taught me a technique for eating a fried egg sandwich.  You have to pop the yolk into the biscuit and let it soak up the yolk-y ness, that way the yolk doesn’t run everywhere when you bite into it.  I will definitely be back whenever a breakfast biscuit + latte craving strikes.

For Father’s Day my dad requested that me and my sisters cook him dinner.  We ended up doing a small plates kind of dinner.  To start things off my little sister and mom made fried parmesan zucchini fries.  So fabulous.

I made our first course which was a non-traditional caesar salad with 3 kinds of lettuce (kale, arugula, spinach), herbs (cilantro, basil), blackberries, parmesan cheese crips and caesar dressing.  We also had smoked salmon toasts, chimichurri steak, good red wine, chocolate cream pie and milky coffee.  Such a great night.

I hope your weekend was restful and your week is off to a good start.
