Crockpot Fall Crumble

I’ve realized I like crumbles more than cobblers.

I like an oat-y, brown sugar-y topping more than a biscuit topping.  Self awareness is good.

So a little about this recipe:

Because it’s made in a crockpot, it comes out ooey, gooey instead of with a crunchy/crisp top.  If you don’t like ooey, gooey and prefer your crumble to be crisp…then you should make this oven baked crumble instead.  Neither one of these recipes will disappoint.  They are fabulous.

Like the recipe instructions below say, I like this best served piping hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or served on top of oatmeal.  I don’t recommend eating this cold…it just isn’t right.  And I’m a person who likes to eat things cold when they are supposed to be hot.  But not for this recipe.

Crockpot Fall Crumble

Yield: enough to serve about 6 people a tasty snack

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 2 1/2 hours

Total Time: 3ish hours

Ingredients:

3/4 cup dark brown sugar
3/4 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
4 tablespoons unsalted butter (+ extra for greasing the crockpot), diced into small pieces
2 large peaches, thinly sliced
2 large (as big as yo' face) honeycrisp apples, thinly sliced

Directions:

Turn your crockpot on low.  Coat the bottom and sides in some butter.  Add in all ingredients, except peaches and apples.  Use your fingers to toss everything together / work the butter into the dry ingredients.  Add in your peaches and applies.  Toss.  Cook for 2 1/2 hours on low heat, or until fruit it soft and all perfect.  Serve hot with ice cream or over oatmeal.

  2. Haha “as big as yo face” apples! So true! I feel like I can only buy one honeycrisp apple and it’s already pound!

  3. LOL your yield descriptions crack me up – I had to go back and look at other recipes for other creative ones too (clearly I’m procrastinating) My personal favorite is “yield: one loaf of bread” .. too good.
