a Mocha for one.

Probably the question I get asked most on Instagram is “what espresso maker do you have?” Well…we have this espresso maker with a milk frother and I love it (and, yes, that’s an affiliate link).  Andrew actually won it at his work company party a couple years ago and it’s been a great addition to our family lol.

The espresso maker is really simple to use and doesn’t take up a ton of space on our countertop.  I love that it has the milk frother part because it’s great for making hot chocolate.  I think straight frothed milk tastes like marshmallow fluff.  It is so good and frothed milk is a way to make any hot drink more exciting.  Tea + frothed milk? Yes. Hot chocolate made with frothed milk? Yes. This here Mocha made with frothed milk? Yes yes yes.

I’ve been making this mocha for a couple years now and it’s so easy.  I mentioned this recipe in a recent day in the life and a few of you asked for the recipe so here it is!

It’s great served as a drink with breakfast, for a tasty snack or with dessert.  If it’s nighttime I’ll make this with decaf espresso so I won’t be up all night. Enjoy!

a Mocha for one.

Yield: one mug for you and your tastebuds!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup milk (I used 2%)
1 tbsp vanilla creamer
1 tbsp unsweetened dark cocoa
2 tbsp chocolate chips
1-2 shots espresso

Directions:

Put milk and vanilla creamer in a mug and froth (or heat in microwave if you don't have a frother).  Add in cocoa and chocoate chips and stir until melted.  Add in espresso.  Drink!

I have tried making this mocha using regular sugar, honey, and maple syrup for a sweetner instead of the creamer, but the creamer is my favorite way because it makes it just more, well, creamy! I don't like this recipe with honey, but it comes out pretty good with maple syrup.  I'd recommend 1 tablespoon maple syrup if you don't have creamer.  You could also replace the creamer with 2 teaspoons regular sugar, but I like the flavor maple syrup adds! But if you hate maple syrup then you do you.
