Wellness Routine

This post was sponsored by Culturelle®.

This isn’t an exhaustive list by any means, but I’m excited for this post to highlight how wellness shouldn’t be watered down to simply exercising x much and eating a particular way. This year, Culturelle® Probiotics is highlighting what it means to #BeGoodInside. Whether this is the moment you take out of your day to help someone less fortunate than yourself or how you choose to support your immunity and digestive health through a probiotic supplement, Culturelle® is seeking to showcase that wellness encompasses more than simply taking care of your physical health.  To do this they’ve launched a #BeGoodInside Movement where they encourage you to talk about how you share your inner good with the world.

So today I wanted to share 3 things I’m doing for wellness lately that allow me to take care of myself so I can go out and do good in the world (which right now mostly looks like me caring for and raising a 5 month old)…

1. Going to therapy.

I’m bad at unpacking things.  Specifically, luggage and emotions.  And that is why I go to therapy.  You see the photo below? That is a photo of my suitcase from our spring break trip in early March still sitting on our bedroom floor waiting to be fully unpacked.  The clothes need to be untangled, laid out so I know which are clean and which are dirty, and then intentionally put away where they belong.

So many times I find my mind feeling just like a cluttered suitcase and I feel too busy to do the sufficient self-reflection that is needed to untangle, lay out in front of me, and then make sense of my thoughts.  And because I find that difficult to do, I really enjoy the help of a therapist to walk me through the thought unpacking.

And just an FYI: There’s this app I’ve been using called Better that allows you to easily file insurance reimbursement for your therapy visits, which is awesome if your therapist is out of your insurance network.

2. Creating

If you knew the two women who were most involved in raising me, then you’d think I would’ve pursued a career in art full-time.  The artsy, creative parts of me are mostly thanks to my mom and my mom’s mom (aka my Tata!).  There is something about the calmness of swirling water and paint on a paint palette that makes my brain feel like it’s getting a massage.  Or cutting out little squares of colorful paper to help figure out the layout of a future master bathroom that makes me feel like I’m tapping into a part of me I enjoy that I don’t use unless I’m proactive in creating! Creating anything: watercolors, a tiny one-dimensional bathroom, or a nicer dinner recipe.

Being proactive about being a creative person allows me to feel well.

3. Incorporating probiotics into my routine.

While I believe that occasional gas, bloating and diarrhea are side effects of being a human being, Culturelle® Probiotics are designed to promote ongoing digestive support as well as everyday wellness, which can help minimize these kinds of issues.

While there is a lot of talk of probiotic-rich foods, pairing probiotic-rich foods with probiotic supplements better completes the puzzle of gut health.  Culturelle’s resident PhD explained to me that, “foods are exposed to bacteria and yeast to achieve desired characteristics such as texture and flavor, not to provide a probiotic benefit.”  Additionally:

  • Microorganisms from food do not survive the GI tract, so there is no guarantee that probiotic-rich foods actually get probiotics to your gut
  • Fermented foods have zero clinical evidence behind them for improving GI health, while Culturelle® has 30 years and over 1000 scientific studies
  • Just because a food or product contains live and active cultures does not mean it is probiotic-rich, or that the bacteria within it can provide benefits to the digestive system or the immune system.
  • Culturelle® contains LGG® (Lactobacillus Rhamnosus GG), the most clinically studied probiotic strain.  There are many strains of beneficial cultures that have probiotic potential. But, the benefits associated with probiotics are strain-specific (and these benefits must be established through adequate studies).
  • Culturelle® Digestive Health Women’s Healthy Balance is safe for pregnant women.

So what is included in your wellness routine? And what does it mean to #BeGoodInside to you? Feel free to share your #BeGoodInside stories on social media and tag Culturelle®! For each story you share, Culturelle® will donate a meal to those in need.  You can also earn points by participating in #BeGoodInside-inspired activities. 1. I LOVE this post!! What a great reminder of how many different aspects are included in self-care. This morning I purchased breakfast for a service member behind me at one of my favorite local coffee shops, & it felt so great to do something for someone else, especially early in the day so that hopefully it sets the tone for them to have a great day.

I am going to try Culturelle! I have a sensitive gut, especially during certain days of the month thanks to being a woman so this sounds like a great addition to my day.

Have a great friyay eve Kylie!!

  2. This is so awesome, Kylie! I’m proud for seeking therapy and have felt such a shift in myself. I can better handle stress and anxiety now. While I struggle some moments or days and experience setbacks, I’m definitely in a much better place than prior to meeting my therapist.

  3. I’m interested in trying the Culturelle Women’s Healthy Balance one you showed but when I looked at their site and clicked “where to buy”, it says it’s not even available online let alone in any store. So where am I supposed to buy it??

  4. Thanks for telling us about Better! I fill out paperwork for my therapist all the time. Hoping it makes the process smoother.
