These need to be reordered.
How are you gonna rank buttered toast above oatmeal? I can see the reasoning behind ranking cinnamon rolls above oatmeal because cinnamon rolls have fun layers with a doughy center and, umm hello, icing. But buttered toast? It has nothing to offer. Except boredom.
So Saturday I spent the day helping my parents paint. I think my right shoulder and trap muscles are now twice the size of my left. Worth it. We painted and talked about politics and what my first dance song should be at my wedding and then we ate lunch on the floor. But painting a house isn’t nearly as fun as HGTV makes it out to be. Ugh. TV with its way of making everything look so glamorous. I think painting wasn’t so fun because I wasn’t wearing overalls. In movies, girls always have those cute, little overalls on when they are painting their new house with their new husband. Gotta make sure I get some overalls before I get married and paint our happy newlywed home. How else will I be sure to fulfill my unrealistic expectations about how fun painting can be? I’ll get on that.
And while I’m looking for overalls, I’ll also put on my wishlist a blazer/jacket like this. Gorgeous. And then this entire outfit too. But I better get to wearing it. Labor day will be here any day now. Do people still do that whole, “No white after Labor Day thing?” Hmm I’ll ask the sister who says, “your necklace doesn’t match your shoes.”
So the other day I was sitting in traffic, thinking about food, when I decided that going to Trader Joe’s sounded much more exciting than traffic sitting. So I went. Andrew says once we get married I’m going to have to limit my stress-induced grocery shopping. I do it all the time. When I’m stressed you can find me at the grocery store. Or at the very least on my phone looking up recipes.
I ended up buying sweet potato tortilla chips (so obsessed), mini dark chocolate bars, 5 cans of smoked sardines in olive oil, and sweetened matcha green tea mix. So I spent the rest of the drive home in traffic brainstorming what to do with that green tea mix (other than make green tea). And one of the ideas was this here Green Tea Latte Oatmeal. Just perfect. Especially with Fall on it’s way.
Green Tea Latte Oatmeal
Another way to enjoy green tea.

In a microwave-safe bowl combine oats and green tea mix. Add in coffee and almond milk. Stir and microwave for 2-3 minutes. Top with Vanilla Almond Granola.
I really want to make matchta ice cream, but didn’t know where to get the powder. Glad Trader Joes is an option!
Oh “matcha ice cream” looks so delicious! I have it “pinned” on some board somewhere…I should make it before summer ends!!
…actually, better idea. You make it first and I’ll make your recipe haha:)
Alright we’re gonna have to make a stop at Trader Joe’s this week, it seems. This is genius (I think I say that about all your recipes, but it’s true). And you have to get pictures of yourself painting in your overalls ;)
PS: sweet potato tortilla chips from TJs ROCK.
I wish you could see the top of my fridge right now…there are 3 bags of said sweet potato tortilla chips haha:) sooo obsessed.
Better to have extra ;)
This is magical!:) I make a matcha shot each morning with almond milk, matcha, stevia and cinnamon before my workouts:) LOVE this idea!
oh definitely should have added a little cinnamon to this…next time!!
Oh yum such a unique recipe!
I couldn’t decide if the pictures looked appetizing or not haha…the greenish color is a little sketchy looking:)
Coffee AND tea in a breakfast food? Sounds like my ideal start to the day :)
I know!! I have dreams of a green tea latte smoothie soon:))
Sweet potato tortilla chips sound amazing!!! And I love this, green tea and oatmeal are separately awesome at breakfast – why not together? TOGETHER AT LAST.
I love everything green tea – which reminds me of the macha powder waiting in my cupboard to finally be turned into some delicious recipes…
I nominated you for the Liebster award, pretty! You can find all the information in my post. <3

I am so excited to try this! Matcha green is my favorite drink and oatmeal is my favorite food so this seems like heaven in a bowl! There are sadly no Trader Joe’s around me. Do you know of anywhere else that sells matcha?

Of course! Just make it in a saucepan on the stove over medium heat!
