Hello, most addictive holiday treat.

If you’re thinking,”oh my gosh. How selfish are you to make puppy chow only for yourself?” Let me explain. Actually.  There’s nothing to explain.  I wanted puppy chow and I wasn’t attending any holiday parties anytime soon so I figured I’ll just make enough for one.  Andrew couldn’t care less about the best holiday treat ever.  He makes no sense.  I know.

This was my first time taking pictures at night.  It was pitch black when I made these (specifically last night at 9pm…because I’m very much a last minute person and fail at working ahead.  Someone mail me a book on how to conquer procrastination.).  One day I will be prepared.  One day.

If you’re interested, I used this light for the pictures.  And I think it’s great.

Say you’ve had puppy chow.  You must’ve!  Or do you call it muddy buddies? If you’ve had it you know it’s rather delish.  And this cooks up in less than 5 minutes.  Well actually, there is no cooking involved, which is even better because it’s even quicker.

If you’re Christmas cookie-d out, it may be time to look for something else that will satisfy your craving for something sweet.  I’m not into denying cravings.  I’m for satisfaction and fulfillment.  Not deprivation.  More on that next week.

But for now, puppy chow.  And I know that it makes no sense that this is called ‘puppy chow,’ since puppies can’t have chocolate.  I didn’t make up the name.  Don’t ask me.

Puppy Chow (aka Muddy Buddies) for ONE

Yield: serves 1

Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

1 cup Chex cereal
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
3 Dove dark chocolate squares
1 tablespoon peanut butter
drizzle vanilla

Directions:

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate, peanut butter, and vanilla and heat in a microwave in 20 second increments until melted.  Stir in Chex cereal until all Chex is coated in the chocolate mixture.  Sprinkle powdered sugar over the Chex and stir until Chex is coated.  Eat immediately or place in the freezer for 5 minutes until cold.  I like mine cold the best.  Preferably served with a glass of ice cold milk.  Or hot chocolate.  It's your life, do what ya want.
