July 4th weekend.
Friday night started with a double date night at a local Mexican restaurant, El Tiempo.
Some of our old friends have moved back into town and I’m beyond my mind excited to have them in Houston.
They bought us a round of margaritas to start the night. Then we all shared fajitas before walking back to their house to hangout late into the night. So fun.
Saturday day morning I woke up and was feeling completely meh. Oh, tequila. I decided I needed to get outdoors and get some sunshine. So I walked to a cafe and had breakfast. Andrew wanted to workout, so I had a solo breakfast date.
Later in the morning we headed to Andrew’s parent’s house. They live like an hour away from us.
Lunch= sandwich + potato chips + watered down lemonade.
snack later on in the afternoon = milk + peanut butter cookie.
My mother-in-law had fun games for us to all play. We did an egg toss and had some badminton matches.
Andrew + his sister were on a team for the egg toss…they dominated.
dinner = ribs + corn + french fries (i went back for more french fries, I just got my plate of food before everyone else and wanted to make sure everyone had enough!)
dessert was some dump cake + ice cream.
Sunday I woke up and took a short walk with Maggie.
Then my breakfast was coffee cake + a piece of crazy thick bacon + grapes.
Then second breakfast was cheesy eggs + another piece of coffee cake.
A couple hours later we headed to a coffee shop for some lattes. The coffee shop served Cuvee Coffee and I was so impressed with it. Andrew and I ended up buying some beans from them.
Cute little cafe:)
Me + my sister-in-law.
Lunch = salmon salad.
Then we did a bit of shopping.
We stopped in True Blue Home, which is this blogger’s shop.
afternoon snack = vanilla yogurt + crumbled oatmeal raisin cookie + blueberries.
burgers were dinner!
Then for dessert we made indoor s’mores. SO FUN. AND so nice to not have to sweat our brains out in the heat outdoors.
Then we headed back to Houston because our neighbors were having a party and they invited us! It was a bit of a crazy night, but I’m happy we got to know our neighbors better! They’re nice people.
The holiday on Monday was spent working on blog posts, moving my body, doing a bit of shopping for our house (we found a side table from Home Goods we LOVE.), and eating pizza.
I’m feeling a bit depressed that the weekend is ending. Andrew just put on that ridiculous Minion cartoon movie. So I’m gonna go watch that and laugh. AND Maggie is super cuddly right now because there are fireworks going on outside and she hates them (but I love the cuddles).
I hope your weekend was lovely, whether you were celebrating fourth of July or not:)
We can’t have a church potluck without dump cake… It’s my husband’s favorite.
I always feel a little sad when special holidays are over too. I hope this week is surprisingly exciting for you!
Loved this comment – it made me more aware this morning of looking for something surprisingly exciting…and then I found $15 in my makeup bag and took that as a surprisingly exciting thing:)))
As always, your meals look so good, and I especially love your breakfasts! It’s my favorite meal of the day. Glad you had such a lovely weekend!
What a lovely weekend filled with family and eats :)
What a fun weekend! You kicked it off right with those margs and mexican food :) That cafe looks so cute! I’m glad you got to spend time with the people you love and enjoy that time over yummy food! xoxo
I am so with you on being bummed that this weekend was over. Yours looked as great as mine!
That indoor smores! Yum! I used to love pulling that out, living in the city I never got to have outdoor ones at home, and they are so fun and just as good as a campfire!
