The Ugly Christmas Sweater Cookie.

Last Christmas I made the best clothing purchase of mah life and bought the most epic ugly christmas sweater…

Except I don’t think it’s ugly at all.  It’s quite fabulous.  It has batteries included and lights up.  Pretty great.  I found it on Etsy, but can’t find the exact shop I got it at.  This one looks similar though!

So for Day #3 of Cookie Week, I’m bringing you more of a decorating idea than a recipe.  I was perusing Stories a while ago and I saw on @willowcrowns story that she decorated cupcakes using a paint palette to hold the sprinkles and whatnot.  So fun.  So here we are with me borrowing that idea for ugly sweater decorating.

And don’t hate me for saying this butttttt I totally think ugly christmas sweater cookie decorating may be just as fun as gingerbread house decorating (and it takes a bit less work!).

For these cookies I bought store-bought sugar cookie dough that I rolled out and cut shapes out of.  I also found a t-shirt cookie cutter from Sur La Table (they didn’t have a sweater cookie cutter…what the heck?! Why didn’t they?!)  Anyways.  I bought the t-shirt cookie cutter and had to add sleeves to take these cookies from t-shirt to sweaters.

They puffed up a bit in the oven and you can trim them or leave them as a super comfy, fluffy sweater.

I found my paint palettes at a local art store.  I filled them with a plethora of decorating options…multiple colors of frosting, sprinkles, chocolate chips, cinnamon candies, etc…and then decorate.  I made a santa christmas sweater with festive sleeves.

Andrew made a christmas tree and a candy cane one because he’s a good sport and was up for helping me decorate these guys.

So if you are hosting a holiday party, I hope you totally get some paint palettes and have your guests decorate some ugly christmas sweaters! Like I said earlier, I thought it was a good switch up from decorating gingerbread houses!
