Creme Brulee Latte

Wait. What?! It’s so fun!!

I came across this idea while I was perusing LA restaurants on Yelp.  LOOK HERE.  We didn’t have time to make it to the cafe that does this, but I couldn’t wait to try out my very own creme brulee latte at home.

When we got home from LA I put it on my get-to-do list.  I feel like “get-to-do” list sounds better than “to-do” list, so I’ve been calling my list of things to get done my “get-to-do” for some time now.

First things first.  Make yo self a latte.  If you don’t own a milk frother/steamer, I do think this recipe is going to be tough for you to make.  You need a layer of milk foam to support the sugar on top of the latte and keep it from sinking to the bottom.

Once the sugar is on, you lite it up until the sugar is golden brown and perfect.

One of the best purchases of my life is still my lil’ kitchen blow torch.  I got one off Amazon for only like $25.  Half the time I use it I feel very safe and confident…and the other half of the time I’m certain I’m going to blow up the entire kitchen.

Once the sugar is caramelized and hardened, you are good to go.  Crack the sugar topping with a spoon and stir it into your latte to sweeten it.  Now I just need to make this with vanilla flavored sugar and then this will be the vanilla latte of mah dream! I mean, can you imagine anything more magical for brunch?

  1. i dont own a frother or steamer but you totally inspired me to get up and make me golden milk latte.

  2. I feel like I really need to order a kitchen torch now! Which model is this? I have some money left on an Amazon gift card that I am going to use towards one!

  3. What/where/how can I get that espresso press? It’s beautiful, and I need it in my life.

  4. I love the idea of a “get-to-do” list! It totally takes away the pressure and guilt if you don’t get it done!

  5. I love creme brulee and I love lattes. Together? Sounds like a match made in heaven!

  9. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. I pour in coffee (no espresso maker) and then then froth either half n half or whole cream and pour that on top of the coffee. The froth is quite thick. I then sprinkle raw sugar all over the top and try using the kitchen torch but the sugar alwayssinks to the bottom. I dont know what else to do.
