And you should totally have it for breakfast with a vanilla latte. These bars are also great if you are so over KIND bars/Snickers bar/Clif bar/Twix bar/Quest bars (umm those are not yum)/Lara bars/etc and would like a new bar option in your life. Yes. If you need a way to switch it up, add in these!
And another thought I had…if you just want to make the crumble layer of these crumble bars and keep it in your fridge and sprinkle it on your oatmeal…I highly recommend that. BECAUSE the crumble layer is freaking delicious and would pair excellently on a bowl of oatmeal.
The Epicest Caramelized Apple Crumble Bars.
Yield: Makes a loaf pan worth of bars:) Eat them according to your hunger/fullness level.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
1 cup oat flour
1 cup walnuts, finely chopped
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tbsp butter, melted
1 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1 large honeycrisp apples, thinly sliced
2 tbsp melted butter
1 tbsp brown sugar, packed
1/2 tsp cinnamon
First start making your filling. In a skillet over medium heat, add butter and apples. Toss together and cook for 5 minutes tossing frequently. Add in brown sugar and cinnamon and continue to toss and cook. Decrease heat to low and continue to cook apples down as you make your crumble layer.
In a bowl, combine all crumble layer ingredients. Use your hands to mix/mash ingredients all together until the dough clumps together with squeezed into a ball. Press half the dough into the bottom on a loaf pan. Then add on the apple layer. Then add the rest of the crumble to the top and gentle press it down to make it a little less crumbly. Serve immediately or keep in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Hi! Whole wheat flour or all-purpose flour would probably work too. I do like the oat-y flavor the oat flour gives these though:)
