Memory Lane.

I thought this may be a fun post for those of you who have been reading for 5 years or so.  For me, with the bloggers I’ve followed for 10 years, when they post something from the past I can remember where I was and what was going on in my life when I saw them originally post whatever it was.  It’s an interesting way to reflect back on the past…through memories of someone else’s life.  It sounds weird to say, but I have a lot of fond memories of reading blogs and getting excited for Kath having a baby, Jessica putting out a cookbook, and so on and so on.

Here’s a trip down memory lane, mostly relating to memories from the house we just moved out of.

Andrew and I met in high school Calculus our senior year. Andrew pretended he needed help with his homework, which I knew he was making up because I was the one who wasn’t good at Calculus and actually needed help.  On the Calculus AP test I got a 1…or whatever is the lowest possible score you can get haha. Here’s us at prom hehe…

We dated long distance for 4 years in college while I stayed in state and Andrew went to school in Colorado.  In 2013 we got engaged & married…

…and then moved into our first house together.  Here’s us right after our honeymoon getting ready to move in.

In the next 5 years, we got Maggie.

Then I graduated grad school.  I worked for a couple years at a group eating disorder practice and then opened my own private practice, immaEATthat Nutrition Counseling.

We majorly remodeled our kitchen (and it was featured on Apartment Therapy!). Taking it from super, closed off and dark where I had to use a ton of artificial light for my blog photos…

To open and airy by taking down walls…

I still love that kitchen.  It was wonderful.

Also in that 5 years, Andrew and I explored California (outside of Laguna), with trips to Los Angeles (that AirBnb was EPIC!) and San Francisco.

Then after a few months of trying, we got pregnant

And brought home our little Jojo.

I’m excited for what memories the next house has waiting for us!

  1. Love this memory lane! Please tell me you’ve cracked the Mean Girls joke about Cady pretending to be bad at math so Aaron would “help” her LOL – this was very fun to read through, can’t wait to see your new home!

  2.  Who can resist an old prom photo? Awwwww.

  3. I *love* reflecting on the past and how far I’ve come. You guys are adorable, and I wish you the best in your next adventure!

  4. Loved this walk down memory lane.

  5. Love your cute story (:  Where in Colorado did Andrew go to school?  I went to CSU (Fort Collins).

  6. Oh my goodness, this was so fun! I remember when you got engaged and getting to admire your ring before Beathard’s food service class haha! I also remember the super closed off house and the epic Christmas party y’all held :P LOVE having you in my life and getting to experience these memories with you!

  7. How crazy! Thanks for sharing such a fun post :) It is so much fun to recall what my favorite bloggers have accomplished over the years. I feel like I just discovered your blog (and all the others!) just last week!

  8. What a fun post! The Prom pic was adorable :) Blessings on your move and making wonderful new memories.

  9. I love this! Thanks for giving a window into your milestones–it’s so beautiful to see. And, WOW, that kitchen transformation tho!! And of course, the cutest babe, JO!

  10. oh my gosh this is so cute!! I loved how you guys stayed together during college despite going to different schools :) Do you have any tips on that? Me and my boyfriend also started dating senior and are currently going into our second year of college, 3.5 hours apart from each other and it’s definitely nerve-wracking entering in the school year having to be away from him!
Maybe a future post on your experience with long distance during college and everything? Or just some advice for me hahaha!

    • Unfortunately no advice to give! I suck at dating…that’s why I got married ;) I found college pretty lonely without him so I feel for you so much. It was a hard time for me and I don’t feel like I figured out the key to having a happy/healthy long distance relationship. It’s hard:/

  11. Aww I love this post so much!! It was fun to hear about how far back your and Andrew’s love story goes. I would love to see some more posts on marriage/relationship tips because I feel like you guys are a great example of a supportive and very honest partnership. :)
