The Best Margarita

Some nights of this Covid-19 life I’ve been enjoying pairing a drink with dinner to make the meal feel more elaborate and put together. One night recently we had tacos paired with margaritas and it made me want to share my margarita recipe.

For the past couple of years this has been my go-to margarita recipe. I’ve added a new tag (see underneath the title) called “The Best” to feature recipes I’ve made probably 50+ times and adore. So far we’ve got the best margaritas and the best chocolate chip cookies. A solid start.

I love this recipe because I don’t like my margaritas super strong. I like to finish the first one and just be getting tipsy. I recently tried this egg white margarita which is excellent, but dang those are strong. If you want something fun and different…try those! If you want a good go-to, try this one.

So here’s my favorite cocktail. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

The best margarita.

Yield: makes 1 (easily doubled, tripled, or more)

Prep Time: a hot second

Ingredients:

1 1/2 tbsp agave syrup
1 1/2 tbsp hot water
1 oz tequila
3/4 oz Grand Marnier
1 lime, juiced

Directions:

Mix together agave + hot water in a cocktail shaker. Add in tequila, grand marnier, lime juice and ice cubes. SHAKE! Serve, over ice, with a lime slice.

  1. Yum! I love a good margarita. I’m not a huge fan of the iced blended kind but this one looks like a good, straight-forward, refreshing drink!

    • There are some restaurants in Houston that serve frozen margaritas that may change your mind on this haha! So good!

Hope you enjoy this one as much as me!

  2. I cook this. You can see this on my web site
