The positive affirmations that help me most.

Hi guys:)

Today I wanted to share some phrases that helped change my life.  I’m actually not being dramatic here.  These following positive affirmations are phrases I repeated multiple times a day to myself when I was recovering and were KEY in my journey out of an eating disorder and a diet mentality.

Positive affirmations are little phrases you can memorize and say to yourself when your wise voice is weak.  Overall, repeating positive affirmations to myself increased my self-esteem/self-confidence, greatly enhanced my body image and decreased some anxiety.  Positive affirmations provide you with go-to healthful thoughts when your brain is filled with unhealthful self-hate thoughts (aka when your brain is filled with crap).   Positive affirmations were helpful for me when…

  • I started to gain weight and felt fat.
  • I was initially trying to “buy-in” to intuitive eating.
  • I decided I wanted to trust my body/work with my body and not hate it anymore.
  • I came across something that glorified weight loss and made me feel like weight loss is something I should be striving for.
  • I realized changing my physical body/losing weight had never helped me love myself or given me a better life.

Some of these I have shared before, but I hope there are one or two that you connect with.  I like putting positive affirmations as my phone lock screen/background so I see them constantly throughout the day.

{remembering the media conditions us to feel dissatisfied with our bodies.  Why else would you buy their products?}

There are absolutely still days when I repeat these to myself because we live in a society that speaks fluent eating disorder.  A society that cultivates a desire to be thinner than our body is meant to be.  I hope one of these phrases spoke to you.  If you have any positive affirmations of your own, please leave them in the comments for me and to support others in finding peace with their eating and their body.

If you have a difficult relationship with food and your body, I hope you will look into my online course and see if it is something that resonates with you.

LOVE TO YOU<3.

  1. These are perfect! I will save them to use on those “down” days when a little extra positivity is needed. <3 I especially love the healthy vs. skinny phrase, and the pineapple-floral background is beautiful. On days when you feel less than, just know you're wonderful and have made a positive impact on me. I feel so happy, I have an even better relationship with food, and I believe I'm now an even stronger RD.

  2. thank you for this. <3

  3. “because we live in a society that speak fluent eating disorder.” Amen to that. I love that you are trying to change that!

  4. LOVE this. It is difficult every single day to live in this society, and I hate even more watching my younger sister struggle with it too. Thanks<3

  5. YES YES YES! All of these…just YES! This is more of a reminder than an affirmation. But whenever I’m struggling with ED thoughts (which is daily…ugh!), I remind myself of all of the more productive ways I could use my brain power than constantly obsessing over calories/food/OCD thoughts.

  6. Thank you for these Kylie! Love each and every one of them. <3

  7. Love this- you are absolutely inspiring!

  8. This isn’t so much a mantra but it was something I loved and pinned, if that counts! It reminds me that everything doesn’t have to be about how fat I feel or what I am going to eat next etc.

“Mother Teresa didn’t walk around complaining about her thighs. She had shit to do!”

  9. ED behaviors and thoughts suck all the joy out of life. It’s just going through the motions. I still have to remind myself of this sometimes. Can anyone honestly say that they’re happy, fulfilled or even just content while in the spiral of ED? No way! I was a depressed, over medicated insomniac with zero friends or energy. Yes, I fit into society’s ideal of beauty but what is the point when you’re essentially a zombie stumbling around.

  10. You are all together beautiful my love; there is no flaw in you. Song of Solomon 4:7

I painted a pretty little sign with this verse and hung it by my bathroom mirror. It reminds me to be gentle with myself.
