Re-vamping a small space.
Thank you to Cost Plus World Market for providing me with some of the decor + furniture for this post.
After finishing the kitchen remodel, Andrew and I were trying to decide what to do with the small space off the kitchen. Luckily Andrew’s mom is super great at interior design and she helped us come up with a plan for the area using the Super Natural Collection & Small Spaces Guide.
It all started with a trip to Cost Plus World Market one Sunday after church (if you are thinking, “those pants look like a party and I want them!” …they’re from Stitch Fix!)
I’m overwhelmingly pumped about how the space turned out. Like I mentioned, the space is right off our kitchen and you walk through this space to get to our garage. So it’s not really a room, it really is more just like an area lol. Does that make sense? So I didn’t really know how to make it functional and welcomed the help of Andrew’s mom.
When standing in our kitchen, the room originally looked like a whole lotta emptiness…
BUT (!) now when I standing in the kitchen I see…
SO MUCH BETTER!
Here’s another ‘before’ photo from a different angle…
…and after!
The specifics on what we put in the space are numbered below.
- Patchwork Dhurrie Pouf
- Metal Edge Laptop Desks
- Oversized Ivory Mongolian Faux Fur Lumbar Pillow
- Charcoal Gray Carlin Wingback Chairs
- White Marble Mix & Match Wall Shelf
- Antique Brass & Glass Curio Box
- Glass & Faux Leather Vase
- Walnut Wood Tripod Austin Floor Lamp Base
- Linen Floor Lamp Shade
- White Parker Grommet Top Curtains
- Gray Dome Curtain Rod
Andrew’s mom had the brilliant idea to push together four of the laptop desks to make a coffee table. It’s great because when we have friends over everyone can pull apart the coffee table to have somewhere to place their drink/plate based on where they’re sitting in the house.
I’m also excited I finally have a space for my favorite succulent & the best books (aka my fav cookbook + Dr. Seuss).
And one of my favorite things in this entire space is probably the glass + leather vase. I will judge how together my life is by the number of weeks out of the year I have non-dying flowers in it.
So. That’s the space. I’m in love with it. I love that the space is now a cozy place where I can blog/read blogs/read a book/hangout with Andrew/etc.
All Andrew and I have left to finish of the house remodel is our half bath. SO CLOSE TO BEING DONE! We started demo-ing the half bath this weekend (and I overshared on IG stories. Also. I’m 98% sure I’m done with Snapchat for forever.)
Anyways. I hope you’re inspired to re-vamp a small space in your home :) Just so you know, Cost Plus World Market is hosting a Sweepstakes where one lucky winner will receive $5,000 WM shopping spree and 3 other winners will receive $1,000 WM giftcards. You can find the details here.
Ohhhhh and if you’re in need of more style inspiration for your small space, check out this video:
I adore your space!! It’s so fun, organized, and full of unique finds. I love the rug and how the shelves draw your eye upward, giving the space more height. I hope that makes sense. ;) I hope to one day do this in our home! We’re currently living in a town home, but when we decide to make the leap into home ownership, this will be a dream of mine. :)
you made my monday!! THANK YOU!! xoxoxo
and this space is absolutely gorgeous.
You’re awesome<3 And on the same epic-ness level for me as Dr. Seuss :)
OMG I LOVE!!! I have an awkward small space that I am so confused with and you’ve totally inspired me!
Yay!!!!! It was such a fun makeover! I hope your awkward space turns out fabulous:))
That looks amazing!!
Super cute! Love what you’ve done with it!
THOSE PANTS! ? Loooove Stitch Fix (mostly because I kind of hate clothes shopping!)
I’m loving stitch fix too! They send me way more fun clothes than I could find on my own.
ohh and I’ve started giving stitch fix giftcards to friends for their birthdays!
Ooh, it’s perfect! Y’all did a great job!
