Halfway Cookie Bars
Have you ever had halfway cookie bars? Ever since a friend made them a couple years ago I’ve been whipping them up for all sorts of occasions. Most recently, we had a meal night with church friends where the theme was: Pick a Color. I picked brown. So, one afternoon my kitchen helper and I made these and only one egg was dropped on the floor in the making. I like these because it’s basically a cookie, but elevated with the meringue on top. I’m always reminded when baking, one) how much I enjoy baking, and two) for kids, how great baking is for learning math. Here’s the recipe we use if you want to give them a try.
This is probably going to seem like the weirdest detail to notice…but your daughter’s outfit looks like it’s a totally different color scheme in those two photos. In the top one, it looks like a white shirt with blue polka dots and jeans; the lower photo looks like a brown shirt with black polka dots and gray pants. It reminds me of ~10 years ago when the Internet broke because of that dress (who even knows if it was blue/black or white/gold…?)
Anyway I thought that was funny, how lighting can change a photo so much! The bars look yummy and I agree, baking is an awesome math lesson for littles!
I am a big cookie fan and have never heard of this recipe. 😋 Thanks so much for sharing!!
