Thoughts at the end of January.

1. This 3-part block of podcasts from Dan Harris was so well done.

    • On eating when you’re not hungry. (Note: this episode would not be helpful for those with active or recent Anorexia Nervosa, and likely wouldn’t be helpful for those with Bulimia Nervosa.)

    2. I’ve found a couple beauty things I really like and that have been helpful for engaging with my body, rather than disconnecting from or ignoring appearance related things. Specifically, eyebrow tints at Ulta to darken my brows and Jones Road Miracle Balm (I got “bronze” and it knocks down the intensity of my rosy cheeks a bit, which I prefer). My go-to make-up routine has been foundation, miracle balm, and tinted eyebrows. Feels very me.

Also! I love Pacha products, which I find at Whole Foods. Their Pachafetti soap smells so great. Are you a bar soap person or a shower gel/hand soap person? I can be either. Their whipped soaps are also my favorite, especially Sea Mud.

    3. I refer to the part of my period after I ovulate as the “dirty side” of my period. Testosterone starts to fall and, with that, the more down I feel and the more self critical thoughts amp up.

    4. I’ve been letting myself run this year (deeming 2024 my year to focus on just having a nice time and not trying to sanctify myself, but rather trusting God to do that for me as I’m in relationship with Him). I was praying after a run about, “is this okay, Lord?”. “This” being running. The answer I’ve gotten is a clear, “Yes. Your running ability is a gift I gave you to enjoy, don’t abuse it.”

    5. I’m obsessed with this flower arrangement. The vase is a dream!

    1. I am so inspired by your new and improved relationship with running and hope you are enjoying a return to a type of movement that, while once may have been problematic, is something you have chosen out of self-compassion! As a lifelong runner, I have definitely struggled to find a good balance (and still have days, thoughts that are from an old diet-y mindset) but it now brings me joy instead of feeling like I *HAVE* to do it. Thank you for sharing these podcast episodes – just added them!

    2. Definitely downloading these podcasts. Thanks for sharing your makeup routine. I am definitely wanting to simplify mine to something that feels more me and natural. Thanks for the inspo! Thanks for continuing to share about running. I hope to be in a place with running some day if that is what God has for me and movement. :) If not, that’s OK, too.
