Food we ate, Chapter 8.

Hello Saturday!

I just realized I titled last week’s post, “Food we *are*, Chapter 7.” That sounds about right and reflects the state of my stress last week haha! This week has been much better. We’ve bought a house and sold our house…and now we have plenty of time to pack. I was able to get a really solid jump start on the move and I’m feeling so excited. I also got a massage last night, so I’m feeling great today.

Here’s some food from the week:

The big girls decided they were worst enemies, as they do. I felt like I was going to explode if we didn’t get out, so we did a 6pm run to a favorite dessert bakery – Fluff Bake Bar. The creativity of the recipes here is next level!

The “call me maybe” bar is so great – blondie on bottom + “unicorn bait” cookie dough on top.

On Sunday we did quite a bit of food prep for the week.

Made Game Day Chili.

And then ate it on repeat for several dinners throughout the week.

Again.

And, again.

One night a friend and I met for 8pm queso + chips + margaritas. So nice to get a break from the bedtime routine. If you’re interested in how I handled this food-wise, I ate two beef jerky sticks at dinner time (since chips + queso lack protein) then had chips + queso + margaritas to round out the meal. Worked great for me.

For food prep on Sunday I prepped roasted sweet potatoes and cauliflower, so that was my lunches for a lot of the week. Served with some chicken.

Another lunch was cauliflower burrito bowls + chips.

Breakfasts I’m still liking my eggs, cheese toast and lattes.

We did some furniture shopping throughout the week. Our favorite place is the fourth floor of High Fashion Home, which is all clearance items. Scooped up a couple things for the new house – media center and a playroom chair.

The below dining chair from Living Spaces is on my wishlist right now. I can’t find the exact dining table I want, so Andrew is going to build it. I really love blue soapstone, so we’re gonna get a piece of that cut and Andrew will build its base. It’s going to be very pretty. I told Andrew my must-haves for the new house are a sectional and a nice dining table. I’m sure my brain will think of more “must-haves” lol, as it does.

After a particularly rough Saturday, I captured this picture of Andrew and the girls walking into church. It was an easy and carefree beautiful moment.

Furniture shopping lunch break for me + Ella: BBQ chips + thai sweet potato soup + glass of rosé.

One night we hit the easy button and drove through Chick-fil-A. Yum.

For snacks, I’ve really been liking Chomps sticks + Liquid IV. The combo is perfectly refreshing and I’m convinced they are MFEO.

I also saw this chocolate bar while out and was intrigued because oats are up there with sesame oil as one of the best ingredients ever (in my opinion at least). It was good!

Latte + belvita snack. Soaking up the pool while we have it!

Protein shake + leftover slice of blondie bar.

One snack before bed that always sounds good is a slice of nutella toast.

We have nothing planned this weekend (other than our standard morning church + evening house church/small group). Laguna is around the corner and I’m planning on us being mostly packed for the move before we head there. I’ve been reminiscing on trips of years past:

Little Jojo.

Little Ella.

And with that I’m off to hang with my girls and hopefully find a good balance of hanging at home and getting out so we don’t all lose it :) And hoping to find some pockets to watch Love is Blind 6! Hope you have a good one!

  2. Love the picture of Andrew with your girls. Snack inspo is helpful. I have been in a snack rut lately. Agree with oats being one of the best ingredients!

  3. I can’t even believe how big the 2 older girls are!!! Where does the time go? Love the pics and congrats on the new house!!!
