Food we ate, Chapter 35.

I’m having a bit of gastritis popping up semi-occasionally…so some of the week was colored by that until I realized what was going on and I started Omeprazole. Our two big girls started at elementary school this week (Kindergarten for my oldest and Pre-K4 for our middle) and phew it was a week of ups and downs. I was so excited to have our school year routine back in place, but then we had a behavioral issue pop up at home for one kid (Andrew told me he had never seen me so mad), so I ended up taking Friday mostly off to spend one-on-one time with her. How’s the rest of the year looking for you? Do you have kids?

Here’s some of the food we ate.

A snack lately has been Chobani Flips. They have a cookie dough one out now that I just bought, but haven’t tried yet. Sounds good to me tho! Paired the one here with walnuts.

Not a week goes by without us making nutella crepes. They are great for a snack or great for a meal.

Still drinking quite a few green smoothies. They sound so good with the heat. Pretty much always into the blender goes: milk, acai, frozen bananas, cauliflower, spinach/kale, ice and then, if I want to make it into a meal, I’ll add both protein powder and almond butter.

Breakfasts have been:

banana + egg pancake + iced vanilla latte

This croissant is the best croissant I’ve had lately. It’s asiago & ham from TenFold and made by Love Croissant. I haven’t tried their almond croissant yet, as I’m waiting for the next time I’m craving one. I bet it is gonna be fantastic.

Oatmeal was eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I find it works well for gastritis.

Another morning, with the gastritis, I could only stomach an english muffin with butter and jam. Coffee is not ideal for me to have with gastritis, but also, this is not the life season I can go without coffee.

And here’s some lunches and dinners:

We had tacos back to back to back nights for dinner…3 nights in a row! These tasted so fantastic to me. Andrew made the pulled pork (I’ve asked him to cook more) and I made a slaw.

With gastritis, it works best if I’m hyper-listening to my body and only eat what sounds really, really appetizing. So, one meal was crispy roasted potatoes and Caesar salad.

Another night I picked up Mexican food. We were supposed to go out to eat as a family, but had to hold a consequence for one of the kids (which was: we don’t get to go to the restaurant…which was a bummer because I love eating out!). If you are local, this place is amazing.

Andrew and I made chicken n’ dumplings – He made the broth with some leftover chicken and then I took it across the finish line with making the dumplings. This is becoming a regular occurrence and this didn’t lead to pain after eating.

One day for lunch I picked up chicken fingers + fries at Layne’s.

Another day I took a kid for some one-on-one time. We went to froyo. Yum.

And that was our week!

  1. Thanks so much—Hope you’re feeling better soon!
I really like that artwork on your dining room wall— the stripes of color are lovely and fun!

  2. Love the salad + potatoes dinner. I always forget French fries go AWESOMELY with a salad.
